WAGNER MERCENARIES RIDICULE FALSE FLAG PLAN
October 23, 2022 -Durt Fibo
Over the weekend reports of Russians and civilians under Russian rule evacuating not merely the Kherson oblast, but the city of Kherson itself continued to swell. Naturally, no good relocation is expected for Ukrainians, nor for any devoutly patriotic Russians encircled or abandoned. While official, semi-official and unofficial militant Russian media has been flooded with outrage over the steady retreating, that same media has been amplifying the anticipation that Ukraine has a diabolical scheme to blow up its own Kakhovka Hydroelectric Plant’s reservoir dam and cause a catastrophic flood across the southeast territory.
But one of the war’s most devoted Russian units –the Wagner Group– has publicly ridiculed the ‘false flag’ plan (Ukraine says that it is Russia that has mined the dam and simply plans to blame Ukraine). The Wagner Group, admittedly run by long-time Putin crony Yevgeny Prigozhin, has it own boastful Telegram channel, the address of which I will not publicize here, and they have used it in this period to state that if Russian forces did blow the dam, the world would not believe that Ukrainians had done it, explaining:
“The enemy has absolutely no motive to blow up the hydroelectric power station. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have in mind taking Melitopol in the spring, the front of the battle for it is planned to be opened from the Zaporozhye region, and also, in fact, to attack from Kherson. So I subjectively believe that the enemy has no goals to destroy the already abandoned city, which we simply do not have the opportunity to defend, not so much due to the smallness of forces and means, but in broken logistics.”
As for the Russian evacuations and tumbling retreats, Wagner’s Telegram is the opposite of boastful. It now says:
“There are only two questions, how to withdraw Russian soldiers from the front line to the left bank, and how to explain all this to the people later? The situation is to some extent even worse than in comparison with the retreat from the Kharkov region after the breakthrough to Balakleya. In fact, the implementation of an organized withdrawal of the first line troops is virtually impossible.”
The last admin of the Grey Zone channel was, according to Russian media, killed in Popasna in the first half of August, so the author of the above Tweet (it is a single piece) who used the qualifying “I subjectively believe” is either Prigozhin himself, or has his full blessing to publish the assessment.
