Update from: Political Prisoners Memorial & Feminist Anti-War Resistance
December 23
Viktoria Petrova, 28, lives in St Petersburg. She has a university degree, worked as a manager and was not an activist before the war. Accused of spreading “fake news” about the Russian army on the grounds of political hatred. The reason for the arrest was several anti-war posts on Viktoria’s personal social media page. In custody since May 7, 2022. Victoria faces up to 10 years in prison. Recognized as a “political prisoner” by the Memorial human rights organization. At each court session, Victoria gives an anti-war speech.
“I call on everyone to fight for peace, for their rights, to do everything to stop this monstrous war. Right now there is fighting, people are dying, a mad dictator is rattling nuclear weapons. This is a critical time to unite and act. In the end, we will remember not what our enemies did, but how silent our friends were.”
