UKRAINE RECEIVES MONEY FROM ITALY FOR TEACHERS
August 16, 2022 -Durt Fibo

According to both Italian and Ukrainian government statements today, Ukraine has received 200 million euros from Italy to pay teachers in Ukraine, in the form of a 15-year interest-free loan. The agreement had been signed on August 5th, but I held off reporting it until Italy actually delivered money to Ukraine, which substantiated it via their Ministry of Finance, and saw official confirmation from the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance, which is technically the creditor.

The funds are specifically designated to cover the salaries of teaching staff of general secondary education institutions in Ukraine.

The terms of the loan agreement grant Ukraine the 200 million euros at a zero interest rate for 15 years, inclusive of a grace period of seven and a half years.
