TUESDAY’S WORLDS
November 8, 2022 -Durt Fibo

There is an obvious disjunction in the priorities of voters. Before our eyes, Americans are displaying “I Voted” emblems as a sign of strength, or defiance –as though democracy itself is the issue at stake. Others instead display slogans or the name of a candidate, as though only those things concern them.

Thus today America can truly be seen to be reconnected to the world. Because this same division of focus is reforming nations everywhere now, as powerfully as any great disaster of nature. Gripping onto democratic ideals are the masses gasping to vote. And piling up across the crevasse are the single-name trumpeters and slogan-solution sector.

Globally, it is the people who think of voting who intend the act to open possibilities, which call for further thought, and would lead to still more thinking. Strangely, the ones who tumble onto the other shelf give no thought to voting per se, and, as conditions deteriorate, acquire a vehement rejection of thought, leaving them operating solely on spite.

There is an obvious difference between thinking and scheming; the latter is not an especially human (or humane) ability; it is instead a reduction to the basic animal process of calculation required to get what one wants. It is even easier when one is assured nobody else is thinking.
