THE YURT OF INVINCIBILITY

Somewhat lost in the air-borne attacks and slogging ground charges on this Den Sobornosti (Ukrainian Unity Day), was the grand opening of the gift from Kazakhstan now gracing Kharkiv’s Beketov metro station: The Yurt Of Invincibility.
Although it could also be translated as The Yurt Of Indomitability, this edifice, like its sisters in Kyiv and Bucha, is designed to function as a “heating point,” in which locals can warm themselves, charge their phones and drink hot tea.
Do not be surprised if you someday see these advertised for sale in paranoid mercenary and survivalist magazines throughout the wild west. They might well prove to be as popular and as expensive as the famed Cone Of Silence.
