THE REPUBLICANS’ NATIONAL SALES TAX ON YOUR LIFE

If one can take one’s eyes off the politicians’ freak show of best-selling liars and ignoramuses so popular with the media, one can instead watch the pickpockets let loose in the circus. These scamps might look stupid, but they know enough to turn the day’s take over to the boss, who, in their case, is the billionaire class.

Just two days after Kevin McCarthy became Speaker of the House on January 7, the mephitic fumes of his Faustian bargain with the self-proclaimed Freedom Caucus seeped out to begin poisoning the nation. Although most of the deals and schemes are yet to emerge, on January 9 Georgia’s own Earl LeRoy “Buddy” Carter introduced a key Republican program, -insanely titled the “Fair Tax Act of 2023”- which would impose a national 23% sales tax on everything bought in America. And that all-inclusive sales tax is booby-trapped to keep rising “with adjustments to the rate in subsequent years.” Yes, step right down, folks, because this feat of lummoxry would add 23% of the cost to everything you need to live “in lieu of the current income taxes, payroll taxes, and estate and gift taxes.” Those will be easily eliminated because the IRS will cease to exist as, to quote the bill: “No funding is authorized for the operations of the Internal Revenue Service after FY2027. [Fiscal Year 2027].”

As I said, the stooge sent out to propose this legislation is Rep. Buddy Carter, and here, for you to NEVER FORGET, are the other Republican Representatives who have to date co-sponsored the bill:
