The new year entered with a torrent of online rants and fabrications pouring in to condemn the arrest in Romania of Andrew Tate as one of four people, including Tate and his brother, suspected of being part of a criminal group involved in human trafficking. The Romanian Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism stated that the group inveigled women into their clutches, then allegedly subjected them to “physical violence and mental coercion through intimidation, constant surveillance, control and invoking alleged debts” as well as forcing the women to make pornographic videos.

The virulent conspiratorial inventions in support of Tate were concentrated on Twitter -which had reinstated his account in November- and TikTok. Coincidentally, today, exactly one day after having signed on to Twitter, derkoolschrank.com, a new publication which deals with factual events and examined the collapse of the computerized era in its premiere issue, was locked out of its account.
