RUSSIANS FLEE RUSSIA
October 4, 2022 -Durt Fibo
In just one day less than two weeks of Putin’s “partial mobilization,” between 700,000 to 1 million Russians have fled the country. These numbers are today’s estimate as published in Forbes Russia (https://www.forbes.ru/society/478827-rossiu-posle-21-sentabra-pokinuli-okolo-700-000-grazdan), which cites its own sources within the Kremlin, and followed up with inquiries to Russian governmental departments including The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Border Service of the FSB. Other calculations of the Great Russian Exodus are compiled by ongoing statistical reports from the EU border agency Frontex, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, NGOs in Istanbul such as The Ark, which assists Russians escaping their homeland, and Turkish media (the Turkish government has not yet made any such data available). Most of the sources counting the torrential outpour stress that they cannot state what percentage of the Russians are leaving for purely touristic reasons.
