The missing Russian television journalist Marina Ovsyannikova, famously arrested for displaying a large anti-war placard behind a news broadcaster, has been reported today as being definitely out of Russia and safe.

Her lawyer got word to Agence France-Presse that “Ovsiannikova left Russia with her daughter a few hours after leaving the apartment where she was under house arrest,” and that they are now living in Europe.

Two weeks ago, Ovsyannikova vanished and was reported by Russian authorities to be on their ‘wanted fugitive’ list. She had been due to appear for sentencing October 9th, which could have amounted to 10 to 15 years for infringing on Putin’s recent outlawing of “false news” regarding his “special operation” in Ukraine.
