“NO GOVERNMENT SHOOTS ITS OWN PEOPLE LIKE THIS ONE”
December 23, 2022 -Durt Fibo
Those are the words spoken by Iran’s spiritual Sunni leader, Molavi Abdolhamid at his Friday sermon. He was speaking in in Zahedan, capital of the Sistan-Baluchistan province, condemning the waves of deaths in Iran, where protests have been attracting more and more classes of citizens -and increasing repression from the government (his sermons are regularly reproduced on his website). Abdolhamid is a staunch Iranian patriot who’s become disgusted by the executions, mass shootings and brutality that has been deployed against citizens. Earlier, on Dec. 2, he had publicly challenged the ruling theocracy, saying: “The nation has tolerated you for 43 years, and now you tolerate them; let them protest.” Those protests, causing the country’s greatest turmoil since the 1979 revolution, which continue to unite increasing numbers of social classes, professions and sexes, have adopted the slogan “Women, Life, Freedom,” as painted in the picture here.
