MOSCOW INTELLIGENCE HEADQUARTERS ATTACKED

This night -Monday, July 24- Russian media, including Izvestia (owned by the biggest Russian media conglomerate: National Media Group), reported a drone attack on buildings in Moscow, specifically around Komsomolsky prospect 17.

Russians flooded Telegram channels regarding the surprise attack, reporting that Komsomolsky prospect has been closed to traffic, and describing damage to buildings and smoke in one near the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Bellingcat – the highly reliable Netherlands-based investigative journalism outfit – quickly pointed out that “What is interesting is that this address is just across from the headquarters of GRU’s cyber offense (incl. FancyBear), among other mil. Units.”

It is generally known in Moscow that the area contains the headquarters of ‘secret facilities’ of the Russian Main Intelligence Directorate, including the office of the head of the illegal intelligence program, the headquarters of cyber operations, and the Military University of the Ministry of Defense.
