BOMB BUNGLING AT UKRAINE EMBASSY IN SPAIN

The Ukrainian embassy in Madrid was hit with an attempted bombing today, but avoided any major catastrophe due to the incompetence of the would-be attacker. Spanish police say a letter containing a “homemade” explosive addressed to the ambassador was opened by a security guard in the embassy’s garden, while the Ukrainian foreign ministry described the incident somewhat differently, informing the media that during a routine check an envelope exploded in the hands of the embassy’s manager, who sustained “light injuries”, but was nonetheless taken to a hospital and soon released.
