ANOTHER DUMB, DIRTY SCARE FROM RUSSIA
October 24, 2022 -Durt Fibo

This morning, Russia’s state-run news agency, TASS, published several alarmist articles further detailing how Ukraine plans to destroy itself simply for the joy of blaming Russia afterwards. First was a piece asserting that “The Kiev regime is preparing a bloody provocation with death of their citizens for the purpose of accusing the Russian Federation of a war crime. On October 24, a unit of foreign mercenaries will shell the crowding point of civilians from artillery pieces in the city of Volchansk of the Kharkov Region during food aid distribution”. This news was allegedly given to TASS by the “Interdepartmental Coordination Center for Humanitarian Response in Ukraine”, an ‘organization’ hitherto invisible and unaccountable.

Then, in chronological order and published in tandem with the Kremlin’s expanding incompetence and delirium, came: “On October 24, 2022, Russian Armed Forces Chief of the General Staff, First Deputy Minister of Defense, Army General Valery Gerasimov had a phone call with the UK Chief of the Defense Staff Admiral Tony Radakin. During the phone call, [the sides] continued the discussion of the situation regarding the potential use of a ‘dirty bomb’ by Ukraine,” the Ministry said. Earlier, the media reported that Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu had several phone calls with his counterparts from the US, the UK, France and Turkey, discussing the situation in Ukraine and informing them about potential provocations by Kiev involving a “dirty bomb”.

Then, just 2 minutes less than an hour later, came this (which TASS says came from Crimean State Council Head Vladimir Konstantinov): “Kiev is plotting a provocation with the detonation of a ‘dirty bomb’ or a low-yield nuclear charge on Ukrainian territory.” and that article backed up the claim by explaining: “The ‘dirty bomb’ threat was also mentioned by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Monday. Russia’s top diplomat said that Moscow would raise the issue of Kiev’s preparations for using such weapons at the UN. Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu earlier held negotiations with his counterparts from the United States, Great Britain, Turkey and France, warning about the ‘dirty bomb’ threat posed by the Kiev regime.”

Then: “The Kiev regime plans to detonate a low-powered nuclear weapon to accuse Russia of using weapons of mass destruction,” said the [Russian] Federation General Staff. “They could use radioactive substances from spent nuclear fuel from the Chernobyl nuclear power plant to build the dirty bomb. The detonation will lead to radioactive contamination of an area of up to several thousand square meters.”

All the above in today’s TASS. Meanwhile, in the real world, most people an remember that it was Russia which sent tanks and troops to invade Ukraine straight through the Chornobyl exclusion zone, where they bivouacked, dug trenches, and eventually departed glowing not with pride, but with lethal radiation poisoning. By late April the damage was still too dangerous to measure, as the Russians had in some places scattered mines and accidentally (?) ignited fires in the dreaded Red Forest. As Russians left and spring approached, qualified authorities were unable to monitor radiation levels because Russians had already stolen the main server for the system, severing the connection on March 2, and the International Atomic Energy Agency wasn’t receiving remote data from its monitoring systems. There were reports at that time that the RF military had even confiscated Chornobyl staffs’ personal radiation monitors. In sum: what radioactive material was flung around, and what was brought back to Russia is still uncalculated.

From Brussels, NATO secretary general, Jens Stoltenberg, told Politico Europe that “The accusation that Ukraine is preparing to use dirty bombs in Ukraine is absurd. What worries us is that this is part of a pattern we have seen previously from Russia – in Syria, but also at the start of the [Ukraine] war, or just before the war started in February. And that is that Russia accuses others of doing what it intends to do itself. “
